Large Hadron Collider
From Achintya Rao’s Wiki
The Large Hadron Collider is a particle accelerator at CERN that also performs hadron collisions.
Remember, accelerators are only colliders when they collide two counter-rotating beams. Slamming particles into a fixed target does not a collider make. I know, this doesn’t make sense to me either. The next time your car hits a stationary target, you can claim that according to accelerator physicists, it isn’t a collision, just an “acceleration into a fixed target”. 🤦
